Oh, boy, abstinence programs
A haiku about the american president:
that crazy george bush
Thank you.
Please make it stop I get about four or five attachments email to me every day now from complete strangers. Normally I'm pretty zen about spam-- i just delete it-- but these attachments bother me because i have a slow modem and it takes a long time to download them. i wish this craziness would stop, already. One of my regular customers gave me $2 tonight with specific instructions to buy myself an ice cream cone from macdonald's after work, so that is precisely what I did. It's amazing to me that all these treats i had as a kid-- like twist ice cream cones from macdonald's-- still exist and are still available-- to adults even!-- for, like, $1.
If I could choose any superpower to have, it would be Super Mind Control. what would yours be?
Extreme Summer Boredom (tm) revelation: commercials are actually a lot more interesting in French. If you're not sure what they're saying, it gives it a certain... je ne sais quoi. This Extreme Summer Boredom Moment sponsored by Mountain Dew Code Red... which isn't good AT ALL. My god, two updates in one day... i don't think you can handle it!
A Classic-1925-novel moment
That's my English-major analysis for you.
pick*y ^ cool homemade cosmetics including lip gloss, solid perfume, etc... (i ordered perfume that smells like freshly-mowed grass, orange juice and laundry!-- three kinds, not one kind.) reasonable prices and cheap shipping to canada. you know you want to.
An 80s movie moment

And that's a good thing
"Following the late ethnologist Michel de Certeau, we perfer to concentrate our attention on the idnependent use of mass culture products, a use which, like the ruses of camouflaged fish and insects, may not 'overthrow the system,' but which keeps us intact and autonomous within that system, which may be the best for which we can hope... Going to Disney World to drop acod and goof on Mickey isn't revolutionary; going to Disney World in full knowledge of how ridiculous and evil it all is and still having a great innocent time, in some almost unconscious, even psychotic way, is something else altogether. This is what de Certeau describes as 'the art of being in-between,' and this is the only path of true freedom in today's culture. Let us, then, be in-between. Let us revel in Baywatch, Joe Camel, Wired magazine, and even glossy books about the society of spectacle [touche], but let's never succumb to the glamourous allure of these things." Three pieces of good news:
Friday is the last Theatresports show of the season (although there will be some special ones one during the Fringe), and I think we should all go. Yeah. How's that for me, like, thinking stuff and stuff. * i have a lot of compassion for the mentally ill and am just trying to be funny blah blah blah.
From a chat transcript with christopher masterson (who plays francis) on the malcolm in the middle website:
His girlfriend is Laura Prepon, Donna from That Seventies Show... he has the coolest girlfriend ever. Plus his brother Danny plays Hyde on that Seventies Show... he has the coolest brother ever.
new pictures are up
New pictures from the summer of 2001 (that's now, dumbass) are up. Click on the link above or permalink in left column; navigate with the little arrows at the bottom of every screen. Merciful heavens. "Permalink" is so not a word.
i always let him get away with not remembering my name My dad and I drove out to Nisku this morning in hopes of obtaining parts for the Acura. The junkyard reminded me of some post-apocalyptic recycling depot in a distant galaxy. It was really heartbreaking, actually: all these beautiful new cars parked in the mud, their front ends crumpled into leather seats, deflated airbags, and mirrors dangling from their sockets. The death of machines. It was like a graveyard-- but a graveyard full of buried teenagers killed in spite of the armour of youth, beauty, pure love and invincibility. "At times i feel like i can catch an illicit glimpse of virgin eternity, of our Future-capital-F as individuals and as a culture and even as a species; and it scares me, what i can see." Moment: Angie, Jess and I sitting in my bed at one o clock in the morning this morning, sleepily thinking about the past. Moment: In the Home Depot parking lot, I sat in the car listening to the radio and waiting for my dad to come out when I caught sight of him, darting between parked cars and shooting at me with siding from the intervals between cars, pretending to be in a James Bond movie. That's all there is tonight. I am not here anymore. I am finishing the last 15 pages of Sense and Sensibility, and then I am sleeping. When I wake up I am eating Froot Loops and reading the colour comics and waiting for the kiss of virgin eternity.
Right. Also, that is my shockingly naked fish.
welcome to sleeping for beginners deletia has been painfully overdue for a new design for months. i finally got around to it tonight. i'll probably be ironing out kinks for a couple more days (please notify me if it looks bad in your bizarre OS/browser/resolution!)... or I may be altogether annoyed with it and return to the old one. That's just what my life is like. It's a wild ride. Sometimes I do my crossword with a pen. Seriously though, I've been thinking for quite awhile about doing a design based on my room. People are always telling me how cool it is, so what could be better than putting it on the web? a couple fun facts about my room:
Also I picked up those pictures from Jess's party. Some of them turned out really well, others you just kind of look at and go "huh?" I'll scan them when I have some time, which won't be for a couple days at least because of work and fucking driver ed.
Also, something I forgot I put $250 into mutual funds this morning and paid for $200 for driving lessons and now I only have $2 to last me until my next payday, the 27th. Yeah, 'cause... that could happen. Oh well. If you owe me money and I've forgotten about it, please pay me back. Thank you.
Dios mio The sign in front of JP has been changed from "Have a Safe and Salubrious Summer" to "Have a Safe and Relaxing Summer". Maybe because no one knew what "salubrious" meant, not even me.
OGLING THE NEIGHBOURS WOULD NOT BE COOL. "i'm gonna be alone for the rest of my life... who's vincent?"
i'm a lit-er-ary gen-i-us I've been reading Sense and Sensibility. Do you want to know the coolest thing about people in Jane Austen's time? They would just go visit each other and stay for, like, two months. None of the landed gentry in her books have jobs. They spend all their time hunting, getting married and complaining about how poor they are. It's truly bizarre. I want to be a landed gentry when I grow up. I went on a canoe trip. Cool stuff:
Uncool stuff:
I've now had two night back in my own bed, and I've decided that falling asleep alone in your own bed is the second-nicest thing in the world.
Special Bonus Tidbit: a joke my seven-year-old cousin told me. You might have to say it out loud.
